iBUYPOWER's Gamer Power 906 rig does Intel Quad-core for a bit over $700

Sure, there are endless desktop configurations out there and oodles of good deals, but we’re still smitten with this particular setup from iBUYPOWER: the Gamer Power 906. Putting that name to good use, they’ve managed to toss together an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 processor, NVIDIA 9600GT graphics with 1GB of RAM, a 500GB SATA hard drive and 4GB of system memory. There was even enough change left over for interior lighting — and we all know about the direct correlation between ground effects for nerds and frags per minute. Available now for $710.

iPhone 3.0 features new homescreen with Spotlight search

Apple’s making a big deal out of search on iPhone OS 3.0, and it’s all being wrapped up in a new Spotlight search homescreen. A flick to the left from the first screen of apps brings it up, and from there you can search contacts, mail metadata (but not message content), calendars, media, and more. Definitely nice if you’ve ever struggled to quickly access something on the iPhone in the past, but again, we can’t help but wonder why it took so long to get here.

Intel threatens AMD with termination of x86 license within 60 days

Intel’s been making noise about AMD’s Globalfoundries manufacturing spinoff potentially violating the two companies’ patent cross-licensing agreement for a while now, and it looks like things are escalating: AMD’s latest SEC filing says that Intel’s formally threatened to terminate the license if AMD doesn’t make it better within 60 days. It’s not clear exactly what Intel wants here — we doubt anyone thinks AMD is going to undo the spinoff — so we’ll see what happens next, but we’ve got a feeling Intel’s trying to put the boot down while AMD’s on the ground.

[Thanks, Chris]

AgfaPhoto announces "world's first" HD photo frames

The “world’s first” claim may be a tad on the dubious side, but AgfaPhoto’s new 10-inch AF5105MS and 13-inch AF5135MS HD photo frames certainly seem to deliver where it counts, with each packing a 1,280 x 800 resolution and all the usual multimedia-related features you’d expect from a high-res frame. At just 22mm thick, they’re also pretty slim by photo frame standards and, in addition to being available in black or white, they each come with a set of interchangeable frames to suit your decor. No word on a price just yet, but you’ll likely want to factor in the cost of a memory card, as each come equipped with just 256MB of internal memory.

Stuffed Care Bears head is a perfect phone holster, complete nightmare

Not going to lie here — we’re having a really tough time determining whether this is just mildly weird, astonishingly strange or adorably cute. While we wrestle with our emotions, we’ll candidly explain that this stuffed Care Bears head does nothing more than hold your cellphone and cast dubious glances in your direction. If that’s all you need to be happy, you can snag yours now for $13.27. Just don’t be alarmed when guests begin making up excuses to bounce approximately 3.9 seconds after seeing this on the kitchen table, okay?
